Who Do You Think You Are?

My daughter was at the bakery this week ordering decorated cookies for Emma's birthday party when some one she hardly knew came up to her and said "I heard you were really sick. You look fine to me." Holly simply said "There are good days and bad" and walked away. Now momma bear wants to say "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? Where did you get your medical degree?"

Not even doctors can walk by someone and determine a diagnosis, let alone the level of pain. They weren't the ones sitting with her at the hospital when she was screaming in pain. Is their heart so small and prayer life so sparse that they can only have compassion on someone in the ICU?

Before I need to repent for judging the judgers, I need to recognize who is my real enemy. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. One of his favorite whisperings is "who do you think you are?" Who do you think you are...that your prayers matter, that you can...teach, sing, write or whatever God is calling you to do.

His goal is to get us defeated before we can accomplish anything for the kingdom. If he can't keep us down doubting our self, he works to divide the body with judgment and strife. We need to stop listening to what the enemy and other people are saying about who we are and listen to what God is saying...

  1. Wow... another AWESOME post, Bren. I looked at the title a second, and thought... "well, I am 'me'". Now, some may not think it, but that's a pretty scary thought... nowing the real 'me' as I do.

But these TRUTHS you have laid before us, from God's word are truly who we are "in Christ". As I read them, I look at some that I agree DO reflect a new 'me'... others I feel... well, I need more work. Unsure of why I am don't seem like "all" these yet, I thought for another moment.

Then, I heard the Lord say, "Who do you think I Am?" WOW... that tells me I need to search deeper into what POWER I believe He has over those areas of my life. Gulp... have I even let Him get close enough to those parts of me to ALLOW Him to?

Ouch... thanks a lot Bren... hahaha. Seriously, we need these kinds of sharing of the heart's journey you share! Bring it! I love you.
